“Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:4
The elders of Promontory Community Church meet on monthly basis to spend time together praying for our church and members, talking through ministry plans, and discussing the administrative inner workings of the church.
This past month, our time began with a devotional from Justin as the words of Matthew 18:1-6 were on his heart. We were reminded of the importance and weight of church leadership, ensuring that none are led astray, while also maintaining a childlike faith, approaching the Father and the role in a humble way and with humility. It was a good word to start the meeting, being reminded of the calling God has placed on our lives.
Following that, we spent time praying for the church community. God is doing wonderful things in our church and there is a lot to be thankful for, and we praise God for that. However, there are many who are hurting or struggling in the church and we bring them before the Father, praying that he would do a work in their lives, and his presence would be felt.
We are so grateful for the generosity of this group of believers. We went through our first official quarterly finance update, and we were amazed at the generosity of people who call Promontory home. Perhaps we shouldn’t be, but our small human minds can’t always grasp the greatness of who God is and how he is working to fulfill his promises. Thank you all so much.
Finally, as we approach another season of membership and baptism classes, we have the great privilege of planning Elder interviews for those looking to join Promontory Community Church. If you’re part of that group, please keep a look out for a connecting email or phone call. If you want to learn more about membership or baptism, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of the pastors or elders.
As always, we ask that you continue praying for our church, praying for our pastors and staff, and praying for us as elders as we seek to bring the Gospel message to the Promontory hillside and our community.
