Elders Update | January 2026

It was so exciting to meet as the Elders of Promontory Church this past week and celebrate what God is doing. The church transferred over membership of 66 individuals from Central, added another 7 members transferring from other churches and baptized 2 more, bringing our total up to 75 members. What an exciting way to kick off the new year. The next membership and baptism class is coming up on January 31, 2026.

Our time began with a devotional from Pastor Jonathan from 1 Timothy 4, a great reminder of our need to continue growing in spiritual maturity, keeping a close watch on ourselves and each other, and continuing to practice the spiritual disciplines demonstrated for us throughout scripture. We then transitioned into a time of prayer for our church, our congregation, our staff, and one another.

We are so grateful for the generosity of this group of believers. As we have officially started the year operating under the Great Commission Foundation, the task of budgeting and monitoring our finances has fully shifted to our responsibility. And what a blessing to see so many already giving faithfully to help Promontory fulfill its vision and mission. We will look to provide a financial status update at the AGM in March.

Finally, we ended with some of the tedious, but necessary, work of finalizing the wording and details of our guiding principles documents. We want to thank everyone for praying and supporting us throughout the process of going autonomous and ask for continued prayer as we finish putting together systems and procedures for Promontory Community Church.

As we continue to Know / Live / Share the good news of Jesus in our community, I find myself continually coming back to the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20,

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
