Elders Update | November 2025

The elders met this past Thursday to pray and discuss several items regarding Promontory Community Church.

We began our time with a devotion from Rich Kopanke that focused on the role of elders as shepherds and we were encouraged to take a moment to think a little deeper about the role, the calling and our example of Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd.

We spent time praying for many people in the church who have come forward with concerns about relationships and health issues.  Our hearts ache with those who are struggling and suffering and we pray for the Lord’s comfort and deliverance.

We discussed the new men’s ministry and how it is a blessing to those who have attended and we discussed ways to improve and support it in the future.

We discussed women’s ministry and the bible study and prayer groups that are meeting regularly at the Kopanke’s home.

We spent some time discussing the recent baptism and membership class and the new potential members along with those who are transferring their membership from Central.  We praise God for those who are taking the step of obedience to get baptized and commit to the local church.

We are so encouraged by strong attendance and engagement on Sundays.  I often hear wonderful conversations about the sermon or the songs and how God is speaking to you and moving in your life.  A wonderful taste of heaven every Sunday.  Strong attendance and growth comes with challenges that are the very best challenges to face.  We are blessed with trying to find more parking, more chairs, more volunteers.  We are thankful for those who are helping and responding to God’s call to be involved. Thank you.

Our attention turned to finances and administrative matters with updates on a 2026 budget of over $300,000 for us to use as a framework for ministry.  We are grateful for your  financial partnership which makes these ministries possible.  We are awaiting approval from the Canada Revenue Agency on our charitable status and we are pursuing a partnership to allow for charitable donation receipts to be issued in 2026 if the approval does not come before January.  Please pray for a positive  and speedy outcome with the CRA.  We are happy to now have an office space to be working from on Knight Road that is an excellent deal and offers a space to have meetings, store essentials, and work from.

Lastly, we spent some time talking about potential local and international missions with a few opportunities to consider and continue gathering further information about.

I want to leave you with some encouraging song lyrics from a band I enjoy, King’s Kaleidoscope.  These are the lyrics to their new song “Day by Day”

Even when I’m at my worst
I am still of righteous birth
Covered by a saving grace
Past, present, future debt erased
My heart is changing day by day

When I run like wild fire
I am still a ransomed child
Bought with blood spilt on a tree
Sin, death, they have no hold on me
My will is changing day by day

I’m not who I was
Now I am who I am, a sinner saved
A stumbling saint
Still I’m never alone
He’s alive in my bones
The ghost of God sanctifies

Day by day by day
