Elders Update | September 2025

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
– Psalm 121:1-2

On behalf of the elders of Promontory Community Church, I’m thrilled to provide our first official update to the church. Promontory’s Elder’s met this past week and began our time together in prayer for our church, our members, our staff, and one another. We also spent time praying for some of those in our church who are hurting, as well as celebrating the many good things that God is already doing at Promontory.

Our discussion began with a recap of the Official Launch / Fall Kickoff. We were blessed to have 205 people out for the Sunday service and time together afterwards, including many new faces. We received lots of positive feedback and are so excited for how God will use the church to reach our community with the Gospel.

Following that, we had some lengthy discussions around policy and procedures. We have been, and will continue, spending a lot of time working through society bylaws and status, budgeting and finance, and determining roles and responsibilities for different aspects of the church. In addition, as Promontory becomes autonomous, procedures will need to be in place for transfer of membership from Central, as well as establishing our own membership and baptism classes. Please be in prayer for this as these details continue to get worked out and they are very exciting to think about, but do require time to sort through.

We are very excited about women’s ministry starting up at the church right from the beginning and have begun discussions around what a dedicated men’s ministry might look like. Please be in prayer that we will be able to find the right person to lead.

We want to thank everyone for praying throughout this process of going autonomous and ask for continued prayer as we continue to put together systems and procedures.
