Promontory Community Church began as a campus of Central Community Church in 2017. Central was approached to plant a church in the school by the Promontory Community Association in early 2017, and by that September a group of people had taken the step out in faith to come and begin gathering together. The goal was simple: be a gospel presence in this community for the glory of God.
While we grew over the next couple of years, we began to make inroads in the school and community until 2020, when COVID interrupted our ability to continue to meet in the school. For nearly two years we didn’t have a home until we were allowed to return and resume this mission God has given us. Over the next couple of years, we began to grow again — not simply numerically, but grow together as a church.
What became more and more apparent is that God had not merely called us to gather in Promontory, but to be the church in Promontory.
Starting in 2024, we began to discuss what it could look like for Promontory to step out in faith and become a planted church. In September of 2025, we officially began Promontory Community Church.
The work that God had started many years ago through the faithfulness of Central had grown to take on ministry for the kingdom. That same step of faith in God’s leading that called us to Promontory has now called us to step out in Promontory.
We are exceedingly grateful for the faithfulness and commitment of Central to see us planted well. We are excited to be able to stand side-by-side with Central and other churches to see the gospel take root in our community and around the world.
