Elders Update | October 2025

Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I will say rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
– Philippians 4:4-7

This month’s elders meeting began with a devotion from elder Eddy Meljholm on
Philippians 4:4-7 as quoted above and was followed by a time of prayer as is our habit.
The elders begin each meeting with prayer: thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness,
interceding for the needs of those in our congregation, and asking for wisdom and
guidance as we seek to lead His church well.

Reflecting on the verses from Philippians, we have much to rejoice for here at
Promontory! As of mid-September, we have officially received our society status at last!
While this has little impact on our day-to-day operations, it is a big step toward finalizing our independence as a church organization.

As our year kicks off in the fall, we are excited to see our ministries taking off.
Women’s ministry, youth ministry, and kids ministry are all off to a roaring start and we
are looking forward to adding men’s ministry later this October!
A few other dates to keep in mind is a connection night on the evening of
October 26 as well as baptism/membership classes running at 9:30 am before service
on the mornings of October 19, 26, and November 2.

One more reminder: October is Pastor Appreciation month. We at Promontory
are so blessed to have such a gifted leader in Jonathan. Please be lifting him and his
family up in prayer as he seeks to lead our congregation. Being a pastor can be a very
thankless and lonely job for some, so I just want to say a big thank you to Jonathan on
behalf of all of us who call Promontory home!

Whew! There is so much happening as we launch into ministries this fall. Praise God for
his faithfulness to us and for the privilege to be involved in His work up here on the hill!
Would you join me in lifting up our church in prayer as we strive to serve God in our
community. God Bless!
