Elders Update | February 2026

The Elders of Promontory Church met this past Wednesday evening to conduct the “business” of the church…but also, to do much more.

Tyler started our time by reading from Psalm 37 and sharing some of the significance of this Psalm while he and his family were on the mission field years ago. Trust in God brings great joy as we experience Him giving us the “desires of our heart” – to see people come to Christ. Following this we invested time praying for those in our church facing struggles.

Celebration resulted from Pastor Jonathan’s report of four folks attending the latest Baptism & Membership class. The need for additional ministry space for groups of people and youth to come together midweek was discussed, as well as the critical need for more Small Group Leaders to volunteer and receive training as, currently, all our Small Groups are near or at capacity.

Plans for our first ever AGM (Annual General Meeting), scheduled for the evening of Sunday, March 1st, following a supper, were discussed. This will be a time of information, celebration, and prayer as we receive financial and ministry updates, hear several testimonies of what God has been doing in the lives of our people, and spend time together in prayer. All are invited to the meal and meeting. You can register for the meal here.

The remainder of our evening was primarily spent reviewing the wording of Promontory’s Guiding Principles, the values and directions addressing the governance and ministry direction of our church. Not the most fun part of our evening, but vitally important in providing a foundation of understanding as we move forward in accomplishing what our Lord has placed us on this hill to do. To this end we follow the instructions of David in Psalm 37:

Trust in the Lord and do good…Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart…Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.”
